- Samsara -

Winner: 2004 UW Battle of the Bands!

Samsara is the result of a synthesis of four musicians who share a love of music. The band formed in 2002 in Kitchener, Ontario and has seen many changes in the past year. Originally, this four-piece had seven members, but change seems only natural with this band. Samsara’s sound consists of soulful melodies, rock’n blues guitar, decades old bass lines and an array of complex shuffle beats. The four musicians that make Samsara know their instruments well. They embed their love of music through a wide range of emotions, which can be felt in their songs. Samsara feeds off creativity, love, and their talent to write great tunes.

- 8th Elevation -

Luke and Nathan met and jammed at a keg party in the Winter of 2003. Soon after Luke dropped by at Nates house and the two of them played with drummer, Jeremy Cross. They played a few gigs under the name The Luke Andrews Band, for lack of a better name. When a fellow Sigma Chi brother of Luke's joined, they were officially known as 8th Elevation after fighting over names like The Side Street Boyz and N'Stink. All the members are currently students at the University of Waterloo. The original songs are written by Luke, and Nathan adds his interpretation to the melodies on his electric guitar.

- The Smokestacks -

the Smokestacks will play rock and roll. Nailing the groove into the corner of the room. Hungry, dry-eyed and desperate music. Cold wind wailing through midnight cracks in the window music. Come and see what church and school and voting day should have felt like. Beauty and guts and fear and love. We sing about that. Loneliness and ugliness. Nature and the past.
